Progressive side wagers: Games like Caribbean Stud Poker often have one of these. You usually place a wager (a dollar is the normal amount) to attempt to win a side jackpot that can be upwards of $25,000. Though big jackpots like these are very alluring, they’re also very difficult to win. You would have to hit a Royal Flush in order to win this wager. Also, imagine this- you wager twenty hands and make the side bet each time. That is 20 dollars you should have used towards the actual game wager in place of a sucker wager. Picture what you might have been able to win at a wager with better odds using that twenty dollars.
Individual number wagers in Roulette: This is particularly true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has two zeroes on the wheel, as opposed to European Roulette, which has only one. This takes the complete casino edge from two% with one zero wheel to a whopping fivepercent in American. The one number wager has just a 1 in 38 chance of winning, which are very big odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red wagers alternately which have a much lower house edge.
Keno: Any variation of Keno, and anyway you bet on it, the casino edge can be a whopping 25%. No, that was not a typo. Due to the huge set of numbers you have to pick, it’s not recommended to play Keno very much. A couple of times for enjoyment, perhaps. But don’t waste all your money on it or you’ll immediately find yourself bankrupt.
